Glossary of Key Terms
- Interactive Whiteboards: Whiteboards that connect to your computer and capture notes that are written on them.
- Interactive LCD Panels: Small interactive whiteboards that can be held on the lap or put on a desk. They have an LCD panel as a screen, and are intended to be connected to a computer that is hooked up to a projector.
- Retro-Fit Interactive Whiteboards: They use infrared and electromagnetic technology to capture information on an existing whiteboard when connected to a computer.
- Electronic Pens: Electronic pens use infrared or electromagnetic technology to “read” what you are writing, so that as you write, your text shows up automatically on your computer screen. They also allow you to control computer applications directly from the board, by functioning like a mouse.
- Pen Sleeve: Pen sleeves also use infrared or electromagnetic technology to “read” what you are writing, so that as you write, your text shows up automatically on your computer screen. You just need to insert an appropriate-sized marker into the pen sleeve for your physical writing to appear on the whiteboard.
- Electronic Eraser: In order to erase both the physical writing on your interactive whiteboard, and the image on the computer screen, you must use an electronic eraser.
- Wireless Interactive Whiteboards: Many of the interactive whiteboards that we offer are wireless, which means that there are no cables or wires connecting the board to your computer to get tangled. Most wireless boards operate using Bluetooth technology.
