Glossary of Key Terms
Bluetooth- Short range wireless technology. With Bluetooth you will never have to leave the board to switch slides or start a
new page of notes.
Electronic Erasers- When you use an electronic eraser
your notes will be saved on your computer after being erased from your board.
Projector- Used with an
electronic whiteboard, projectors can be used to project your exact
computer screen onto your
whiteboard.
Receiver- Small device that is placed in the corner of your existing whiteboard and captures your handwritten notes so they
can be saved on your computer. The receiver can also be built into an
electronic whiteboard.
Software-
Electronic whiteboards
come equipped with software to install your
electronic whiteboard to your computer. Other optional
software programs are also available such as, handwriting recognition.
Stylus/ Electronic Pens- These pens can be used like a
wireless mouse. Use them to click on your board to change slides and access internet sites. Simply place a dry erase marker in
to your electronic pen and your board will capture everything that you write.
USB- Universal Serial Bus- The way most
electronic whiteboards are connected to your computer. Most computers have more than one USB port;
make sure you have an unoccupied port to plug your electronic receiver in to.
Wireless- With wireless devices, your receiver will not have
to be hooked into your computer. Great for large rooms and lecture halls.
