Best-Rite's natural cork is environmentally safe. The cork surface is bought from Europe. There, cork oaks are first stripped of their bark only when they are 15 - 20 years old. Horizontal and vertical cuts are done to remove the outside bark, so that it does not harm the inner bark of the tree. This allows a useful life of more than 150 years for each tree.
